Reliable web sites providing an entry into the fluoridation literature.
Fluoridation generates enormous controversy, and the internet is littered with web sites that are either for or against it. The links below provide entry to sites that rely on science, not the clap-trap, pseudo-science and misinformation peddled by the mainly dentally-based organisations and individuals promoting fluoridation. The sites indicated below all direct you to the extensive reliable literature available, from medical to political, that will help you to obtain a more balanced view of the evidence for and against fluoridation.
Warning!
There are many internet web sites that mislead those seeking reliable and objective information on fluoridation. In the UK, those of the British Fluoridation Society and its Allies direct researchers only to sites that endorse, or actively promote, water fluoridation. If you wish to find scientifically peer-reviewed and verified information on fluoridation, then such sites should be avoided, since it can be difficult to escape from the self-referring network of pro-fluoridation sites linked into this network.
For example, one of the most reputable scientifically 'safe' sites is that of the Fluoride Action Network, www.fluoridealert.org - but if you accidentally go to www.fluoridealert.com you reach the rabidly pro-fluoridation site of the American Dental Association. Although this ADA site does not actually identify its ownership - in itself a warning of its potential bias in support of fluoride - it opens with a claim for the alleged medicinal properties of fluoridation that is actually banned under both English and European Community legislation.
